The Herald has received information that The Barberton City Council is going to push through legislation that will allow the Robinson Avenue Bridge to be renamed the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge despite objections of residents.
The Herald has received the following petition:

***************************************************************************
We do not wish the viaduct to be named after Martin Luther King Jr.,
anymore than we would like it to be named after Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton.
It is a matter of honoring someone from Barberton.

Surely throughout our town's history there is someone who deserves this honor.
We are starting a petition drive to present to City Council Monday, July 21
when they will try to push through legislation.

Signatures are needed for this petition, which will then be presented to Mayor Bill Judge and City Council.
The petition will be available to sign at the
Herald offices, 70 Fourth St. NW.

Monday through Thursday 9-4 p.m. and Friday 9-3 p.m., from now through July 18.
