Willa Lee Wasson went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 7. She now has joined her beloved husband of 50 years. They now wait for their precious son, Gary. Willa’s first love was always her Lord and Savior. Her second love was her family they were always very close to her heart. She had a great compassion to help others, and was very active at the Always Hope Outreach Ministry at the Akron Baptist Temple. God gave Willa a beautiful singing voice and she sang for his glory for over 60 years. Willa and her son were local Gospel singers for 19 years. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple choir for 50 years. She had many interests in life, landscaping, decorating both inside and out. Willa won many beautification awards given by the city of Akron, she was a great researcher on many subjects, and she had the talent for detail, therefore she had great organizational abilities and she used those talents in many areas through her life. Preceded in death by her husband Raymond “Dutch” Wasson; her parents, George W. Odom and Verdie M. (nee: Pickelsimer) Odom. Survived by her son, Gary George Wasson and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends May 10, 6-7 p.m., at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m., at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Knight officiating. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery.
