Robert O. Griffin “Bob”, 91, passed away June 26. Born in Akron, Aug. 8, 1924 to the late Archibald and Caroline Griffin. Robert was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, member of the VFW, DAV, Ohio Edison Men’s Club and the Ohio Chapter of Electrical Inspectors. He was employed by Ohio Edison for 40 years. After retiring from Ohio Edision, he went into selling real estate with Bobinger Real Estate. He served in World War II from 1942-1945 with the 15th Field Artillery Observation Battalion. He was proud to serve in the Italian Campaign and the Mediterranean Campaign. Bob couldn’t wait for the next year to come so he could go to the 15th Field Artillery Observation Battalion Reunions. He enjoyed talking with all of his camaraderies. They all had so many memories to share with each other. He often talked about his time at Anzio Beach. Preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Clifford Griffin; sisters, Helen Megyes and June Gray; and son-in-law, James Romano. Survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janet (nee: Dobbins); daughter, Susan Romano; granddaughters, Jamie Romano and Jessica Romano-Holcom (William); great-grandchildren, Jordan Edwards, Jada Romano, Ella Holcomb and Lily May Holcomb; brother, Arthur Griffin (Ila); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; he will be sadly missed by his special dog, Malcom. A special thanks to nephew, Greg Griffin for all of his support, love and laughs they shared together. Special thanks to all of his family and friends at Woodside, where he moved in 2004. Retirement in Florida was his dream. Funeral services will be July 6, 12:30 p.m., at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice Care, 4450 W.
