A man claiming to be from a fencing company took advantage of a resident by distracting him outside, allowing others to go into his house unnoticed.

Norton officers responded to a home on Wadsworth Road for a burglary. The 76-year-old homeowner said that a man knocked on his door claiming to work for a fencing company and wanted to show the resident his property line.

The homeowner said the man kept him in the backyard for about an hour and was talking on a radio to another man.

When the homeowner went back inside, he noticed the door on his safe was taken off the hinges. He reported nothing was missing.

The neighbor said she saw three men arrive in a grey sport utility vehicle as the March 8 incident unfolded. She said the driver took her neighbor into the backyard and another man made several trips between the house and the vehicle. When her neighbor went back inside the house, the other man ran to the car.

Always call police if something looks suspicious in your neighborhood.
