Soyars to fill Summit County Council seat

Barberton At-Large Councilman Mike Soyars will be filling the vacant seat on Summit County Council.

The seat was vacant after former Councilman Tim Crawford took another position. The Summit County Democratic Party met at Lake Anna Hall March 20 to nominate and appoint someone to fill the seat to represent the 7th District. Soyars was appointed after a 17-3 vote against Judith Lynn Lee, a former candidate for Norton City Council.

They also nominated Soyars to be the Democratic candidate for Summit County Council in the general election Nov. 6.

This will cause a vacancy for one of the two at-large seats on Barberton City Council. Stay tuned for updates on when resumes will be accepted. For more on this story, check for updates on our website and pick up the Thursday, March 29 issue of The Barberton Herald.
