New city vehicle delivered**AUDIO**

Mayor Judge interview, June 4

What other color could the City of Barberton’s new community access and response center be but purple?

According to Mayor William Judge, the $30,000 vehicle is funded by federal and local grants, including one from the Barberton Community Foundation (BCF).

Details are still being worked on by officials on how the recreational vehicle will be used.

$30,000??? Yah right!! Used ones this size are around $100,000!!! Now that we have it… who is going to foot the bill for fuel!! 200 gallons at $3.30 per gallon?? Over $600 each time they empty the tank? Maintenance is not cheap on these things either!!! Way too much money from our pockets for something they say is “free”

Sell raffle tickets to use it for a vacation. Like a weekend camping caction to RV parks in the area. This will advertise bthe city. Also maybe selling the raffle tickets will make some more money for the city.

I think it’s a great idea. Drive it around the area on the weekends. Rent it out. Show the flag. Park it in the Falls for a day. hand out pencils and gum, Talk up Barberton.

    • Magic Man on June 8, 2018 at 9:11 am

I agree. Rent that thing out. Take to Football games. Drive all the haters to other towns or middle of nowhere. And leave them .

I am at a loss for words that the Community foundation would approve spending money on a bus that has no idea how it will be used. Even if it is used The Mum Festival who will pay for the fuel.
If the city had ideas to use it for the festivals they could have looked into buying the a tram to transport people. I would think it would cost less to maintain.

It did not come with that art paint work?
Is that for Any TAX PAYER TO USE?

  13. Bell Shuster on June 5, 2018 at 1:22 pm

30K or more, there was no plan in place on how this bus will be used. I think they saw a chance to get something for very little, 30k tax payer money, and hope for the best. Can I borrow it for my vacation? Wow, a way for city to make some money, rental fee, and still advertise the city.

  14. Anonymous on June 5, 2018 at 8:13 am

More money well spent! Grants paid for purchase but what about upkeep of this nice ride?

  15. Paul Ratay on June 5, 2018 at 7:49 am

Are the numbers correct on that bus? No way did that cost only $30K. More like $300K. Could you please recheck your facts on this story? Thanks.

    • Ganley on June 8, 2018 at 9:15 am
