Standoff ends peacefully ***Audio & Video



The SWAT team was called out to a Hyacinth Circle house in Barberton at about 5:30 a.m. where they found a man barricaded, refusing to come out.

According to police the man, whose identity was not released, had called a suicide hotline and also made threats to law enforcement over the phone.

The Barberton, Norton, New Franklin SWAT was called out beginning a standoff which ended about 11:20 a.m. Police fired volleys of tear gas into the house and when the man moved into the garage, fired non-lethal rounds to disable him.

He was taken to the hospital.
