My Dad worked for B&W for 47 years.
He said in 1974 when they were bought by McDermott, it was never the same.
All the good management was replaced.
Seems to still have management/diversification problems.
Here’s news to B&W hierarchy and our current administration, coal is no longer a viable option.

I was hired in 1958 at B&W on Van Buren and got laided off at their Stirling Avenue plant. Their was no such thing as BWX on 2nd street. They took off and moved to Lynchburg Virginia some after time after that ????

Those 49 people should come down to Arconic, they could use some higher quality new employees!

It’s the old B&C Research facility on Norton Ave. across from the Quala Wash company just before Clarkmill Rd. Starting wage is $14/hr +.50/hr shift differential, full medical/optical/dental, and many other benefits and incentives! No experience necessary, they machine and finish commercial aluminum truck/semi wheels.

I swear I just seen a sign on 2nd street SW. That said “now hiring”BWX GO figure!

BWX off of 2nd and B&W on Van Buren are two different companies.

      • Anonymous on July 5, 2018 at 7:35 am

They are two companies with the same owner. Just because they branched does not mean different people run it. Check back to 2015 for the corp paper work.

When I hired in at B&W in 1958 and got laided off 2 years later, all they do is lay people off. In my 1958 Cigam yearbook it says “Come to B&W. There is always a job for you.”
