Jack passed away peacefully Aug. 10, after a lengthy illness. Those who knew Jack will remember him for his warm smile, caring disposition and his devotion to his Catholic faith. Jack was a proud member of the U.S. Army having served his country during the Vietnam crisis as a paratrooper. His cousins would never tire of hearing the stories of his “seven inch split” when his parachute did not deploy and he received disabling injuries. After retiring from his service in the U.S. Army, he spent his career as a devoted employee of the Tyler Elevator Company in Cleveland. Jack is predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Weigand, and is survived by his siblings: Constance Liegey, Barbara Santilli, Joan Salman, Margaret Trenta, Mary Codispoti, Ann Katherine Weigand, Mark Weigand, Christine Tomayko and Therese Weigand. There will be no calling hours. Mass and Christian burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday Aug. 17 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Barberton. Burial with full military honors to immediately follow at Western Reserve Cemetery, Rittman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Augustine Catholic Church or Our Lady of the Elms School.
