Speed cameras starting on I-76

Norton Police officers will begin using handheld photo LIDAR units Monday, Sept. 10, in the I-76 construction zone to calculate the speed of vehicles and take photos of speed limit violators.

The intent is to create a safer work environment for those involved in the project, the motorists in the construction zone and police officers who have to investigate accidents. The vehicle owner will be issued a civil violation with no points assessed to the their license. The violation will not appear on their insurance, according to police.
