Norton’s football team lost a tough game at Woodridge, 28-7, to end the Panthers’ winning streak at seven.
Junior Tyler Scott scored the only Norton touchdown, but was otherwise contained for the first time this season. He ran 12 times for just 17 yards as the Bulldogs forced the Panthers to pass the ball.
The loss drops Norton’s record to 7-2 (5-1 Portage Trail Conferece) while Woodridge improves to 5-4 (5-1 PTC). The Panthers also fall out of playoff position, currently sitting in 10th in region nine, one point behind eighth-seed Aurora.
Norton will look to win or finish in a tie for the PTC crown when they host Coventry for Senior Night Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. They will need to win and receive some help to make their first trip to the postseason since 1997.
