In recognition of the contributions and sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, as well as the transformative possibilities of animal companionship, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) is celebrating November as Veteran Adoption Month.
For the entire month, adoptions will be completely fee-waived for adopters that provide a valid military identification, with application approval. These fee-waived adoptions are underwritten through a generous donation by a local military supporter and animal lover.

In addition to fee-waived adoptions for the month of November, veterans and members of the military are always eligible for a 25 percent discount on adoption prices with application approval through the Veteran Pet Program. Veterans, active military and all members of the community are invited to view adoptable animals online at summithumane.org or in-person during shelter visiting hours: 1-7 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, and 1-5 p.m., Sunday (closed Monday).
