Magics fall to Firestone in opener

Barberton’s boys basketball team lost in their season opener at Firestone, 83-80.

Senior guard Jordan Soyars led the game with 35 points (four 3-pointers, 8-of-12 from the foul line). Sophomore Jamair Blackmon had 22 points, nine rebounds and four steals before fouling out late in the game. Max Littlejohn added 8 points, seven assists, four steals and three rebounds.

Moses Petrie (5 points), Ethan Elliott (5 points, seven rebounds) and Sonny Fox (4 points, 12 rebounds, three assists) rounded out the team’s scoring.

Barberton made nine 3-pointers on the afternoon along with 17-of-28 free throw attempts.

Next, the Magics will play their Suburban League opener at Revere Friday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
