UPDATE, Dec. 12
The Barberton Civil Service Commission has confirmed the suspension of Fire Chief Baldwin.
At a special Dec. 12 commission meeting Safety and Human Resources Director Elizabeth Daugherty stated Baldwin was notified by email of the meeting and he replied that whatever decision was rendered he would abide by. Baldwin also thanked the commission for their time.
Daugherty said Baldwin has already served his two-week unpaid suspension.
Original post: The Barberton Civic Service Commission was to have decided on an appeal by Fire Chief Kim Baldwin at a special meeting, Dec. 10.
While a vote was taken it was determined by Safety and Human Resources Director Elizabeth Daugherty to be invalid due to a communications error in which Baldwin had not been notified of the meeting and was not present.
An additional special commission meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12, 5:15 p.m., after the Herald’s print edition deadline, in the mayor’s conference room at the municipal building.
