The owner of The Garage Bar at The Fast Lane in Barberton, Todd Cleavenger, was in the Summit County Jail charged with felonious assault and abduction after an incident at a 27th Street NW residence.
According to police, a 31-year-old woman, clad only in a bed sheet, fled to a neighbor’s house at about 7:20 a.m., Jan. 1, saying she had been beaten by Cleavenger, 42, of Akron, and he would not let her leave. The woman said she finally was able to escape out a bedroom window.
A cash bond of $250,000 was set by Barberton Municipal Court Judge David Fish. During a Jan. 4 court appearance, Cleavenger’s attorney Max Hiltner asked Fish to reduce the bond to at 10 percent of $25,000.
Fish denied the request stating that photos of the victim seem to suggest a brutal attack the likes of which the court has not seen in over a decade.
