With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Jimmie Dewayne Vires, age 60, of Doylestown, due to complications from cancer Saturday, Jan. 12. Born on June 24, 1958 in Barberton, where he met and married the love of his life and girl next door, Theresa (Misura) Vires, devoted wife of 32 years. Jimmie was well-known for his larger than life personality, passion for the outdoors, pride for his country and military, wild sense of humor, and stunningly beautiful green eyes. He will be remembered as an extremely hard worker, talented musician, revered outdoorsman, true friend, avid gardener, pheasant dropper, walleye whopper, and forever favorite soccer dad. “Go Blue!” He mastered the art of telling a joke that was so-not-funny that it actually made you laugh. But most of all he loved his family. He will be dearly missed and always in our hearts. He was just so much fun to be around! Preceded in death by parents, Ewen and Anne (Litton) Vires and brother, Walter “Kenny” Vires. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Theresa and daughters, Ashley Perona, Britanie (Brad) Barnes, Courtnie Vires and Diana Vires and son, Jimmielee Vires; beloved grandsons, Samuel Barnes and Matthew Barnes; brothers and sisters, Sandra Caudill, Otis (Cathy) Vires, Jeff Vires, Brenda (Brad) Copeland and Raymond Vires; nieces, nephews, cousins, many other family members and friends, along with his canine hunting buddies, “Dakota” and “Dutch.” Jimmie’s family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating at the Campfield Hickman Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled Veterans Outdoors.org.
