Budgetary concessions were made in order to keep the jail open and the four full-time firefighters employed.

Read between the lines here people, the income tax hike from a few years ago that was supposed to be used for your streets is being quietly filtered over to cover up a disaster known as the city budget. Pretty obvious there has been absolutely zero planning and foresight used with this budget for the last couple of years. When a city budget is this far-off ask yourself one question, how do you go ahead and plan to build a new Municipal Court Building all within the same fiscal year, does anyone down there even know how numbers work?

Unlike the one on top of your head, you are missing the point. Money that was suppose to be used for a specific problem has been shifted to cover up the lack of fiscal planning. Has nothing to to with jobs. No one is crunching numbers and data. Problems can be handled IF someone works on a solution BEFORE you are broke. Do you budget to pay your rent or mortgage after it is due ? NO you plan ahead.

What about the rest of the police department employees who were laid off? Are you bringing them back? I’m glad the fireman get to keep their jobs and of course the jail needs to remain open. But the rest of the police department staff needs to be returned, as well. They were essential to the day-to-day operations of the department and we need them back!

Summary of news release: The mayor “found money” again like the last few times his math was off. He realized what we all knew, that the city cannot go without a jail (Norton and Copley need it as well) and that laying off firemen would cost more money in the long run. In closing, he would like to thank everyone except the police and fire employees that serve his community.
