Magics fall to Copley in playoff opener

Barberton’s baseball team was defeated by Copley in the sectional semifinals for the second straight season.

The Indians won in Barberton this time, 5-0. Nick Plucinski started and pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, three walks and four earned runs with five strikeouts. Billy Goble finished the game with 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits.

Catcher Max Taylor had two singles for the Magics while Charlie Hornacek and Griffin Brown each had one hit. Brown also had a sacrifice bunt.

The Magics fall to 6-17 on the season while Copley advances to the sectional finals at Medina Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m.
