After eight years with the Barberton Police Department and the last three as Barberton East Elementary School’s Resource Officer, Antoinette DeSimone has accepted a position to teach third grade for Akron Public Schools.

Officer Kenneth Cheatham says, “I have enjoyed working these past few years with Antoinette and I wish her luck in all of her future endeavors. I know that she definitely has a heart for children and it will serve her well in her next position.” Antoinette says she will never forget the kids at East and she made sure to be there to greet them on their first day of school.

My husband Jason Nelson, from Barberton, served with you in Iraq. We loved to see you the children and city of Barberton. And happy to see you moving on to teach the children of Akron. Good luck to you.
