Aurora snaps Magics conference win streak

Aurora’s running game and pass rush was too much to handle for the Magics, as they fell 31-7 at home.

The Greenmen improved to 7-0 (3-0 Suburban League American Conference), as they rushed for 205 yards as a team. They also sacked Barberton quarterback Chase Haywood seven times and intercepted a pass.

The Magics scored their lone touchdown in the second quarter as Haywood found Kaeleb Vega in the middle of the field, who then ran for a 68-yard score to cut the lead to 14-7.

Haywood completed 10-of-19 passes for 140 yards. Markim McKinnie rushed seven times for 54 yards. Ryan Watkins caught four passes for 37 yards. Keyandre Turner and Sonny Fox sacked the Aurora quarterback, with Turner forcing a fumble that was recovered by Watkins.

Aurora was led by quarterback Alex Moore, who completed 10-of-11 passes for 62 yards and one touchdown and rushed six times for 25 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Gramm ran 26 times for 88 yards and one touchdown while Evan McVay added 30 yards and a touchdown on nine rushes.

The loss snaps a 21-game conference winning streak for the Magics. The streak went back to Sept. 23, 2016, when the team lost 49-28 at Aurora.

Next, the Magics take a break from league play and host undefeated Massillon Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

No defense. When Massillon (it was Massillon-Canton McKinley) in those days, it was as bad as the Brown’s Monday Night game. Hopefully, they will play better. This is not the same team as last year. Maybe 7-3 will be as good as it gets. Didn’t one of their better players move on to Buchtel?

Norton beat Ravenna 32-27 with Tyler Scott as the star. They are still (3-4, 2-2).

I told y’all this dude can’t coach. The harder the game the worse he looks. I told y’all 7-3. U can’t run the same plays every year and beat a good team. What coach can’t adjust? When have smaller faster kids you run misdirection plays. Not power plays. He has no rub plays for the wr. He tells the QB where to throw ball. He never use his check down wr. He runs the same set. One back offense. He will never bring y’all a championship! If Aurora beat y’all 31-7. Massillon will put 70 on y’all. Next year y’all will be 5-5.and it’s only going to get worse. Karma is coming. I guess back to old barberton. When it was a guarantee victory when you played them.
