Magics open season with win at Highland

The Magics’ boys basketball team, and first year Head Coach Kyle McBride, opened the 2019-20 season with a victory.

The team trailed 12-4 early, but scored the next 11 points and led for nearly the remainder of the game.

Anthony Cook led the Magics with 27 points. He made 5-of-9 free throws and two 3-pointers while adding four rebounds, three assists and one steal. Jamair Blackmon followed with 18 points (two 3-pointers), four rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block.

Sonny Fox (10 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals, one block), Bennett Miller (7 points, six rebounds), Tony Fox (6 points, two assists), Bradley Eagle (3 points, three assists) and Ethan Elliott (3 points) also scored. Bryce Profitt led the Hornets with 33 points.

The Magics also won the junior varsity game, 76-50. Alex Schmitt (22 points) and Glenn Parker (19) led the team in scoring.

Barberton returns for the Siegferth Classic Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2:45 p.m. against Ellet.
