Barberton’s boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 56-55 overtime win against Ellet in the Joe Siegferth Classic at Firestone High School.
Junior Jamair Blackmon was the hero, as he made a game-winning buzzer-beating 3-pointer. “I just came down the court, only four seconds left, and I knew my teammates were crashing the boards in case I missed so I came down trying to score,” Blackmon said. “It felt great. Coach drew up a great play our team just went down and executed.” His shot followed an Ellet go-ahead triple with just 4.6 seconds left in overtime.
Anthony Cook led the team with 13 points. Tony Fox (11 points, three steals), Bennett Miller (11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two 3-pointers), Sonny Fox (9 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals, one 3-pointer), Bradley Eagle (6 points, three assists, two 3-pointers) and Blackmon (6 points, four assists) also scored for the Magics.
Next, the team goes back to conference play as they host Revere Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
