Barberton’s girls basketball team lost another close conference game, this time by one point at Aurora.
An An’taniyha Easter basket made the score 50-49 in favor of the Greenmen with 30 seconds remaining. After an Aurora missed free throw, the Magics had a chance to win the game, but couldn’t get a good look, as Brenna Walker’s desperate shot from well outside the 3-point line fell short.
Walker (13 points, three 3-pointers) and Hailey Haywood (13 points, four 3-pointers, six rebounds, four assists) led the Magics (1-4, 1-3 Suburban League) while Easter added 7 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Laney Kaisk (4 points), Haley Anzaldi (4), Maris Ries (4), Shakya West (4) and Megan Schanz (2) also scored. Aurora was led by junior standout Shyanne Sellers, who scored 16 points.
The Magics return Wednesday, Dec. 18 when they host Lake at 7 p.m.
