Revere’s boys basketball team is on its way to a Suburban League American Conference championship after defeating Barberton, 76-66, to remain undefeated in league play.
The Magics fall to 11-4 (5-3) with the loss and were led by Anthony Cook, who had 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
D’Lawrence Scott had 13 first half points and finished with 16 points, five assists and four steals. Bradley Eagle (11 points, three 3-pointers), Jamair Blackmon (10 points, four assists, two 3-pointers), Tony Fox (6 points, four rebounds) and Sonny Fox (5 points, five rebounds) also scored for Barberton.
Revere jumped out to an 18-6 lead, but the Magics scored 10 straight to end the quarter to cut the lead to 2, then scored the first 7 points of the second to turn a 12-point deficit into a 5-point lead.
The game remained close from then until early in the fourth quarter. A Cook basket made it 47-44 Revere before the Minutemen went on a 18-6 run to put the game away.
Barberton returns to conference play Friday, Jan. 31 at home versus Copley at 7:30 p.m.
