Betty Lou (Leasure) Slater was born at Akron City Hospital Aug. 24, 1946, and passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, at University Hospital in Ravenna. She was a gentle person who cared a great deal about her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her siblings, her pets, and the patients under her care. Betty was predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, Donald Slater. Betty was a talented dancer during her teen years, excelling in ballet, jazz, and tap dancing. She realized a childhood ambition by earning her RN in nursing over thirty years ago. Working as a nurse, it was her passion in life to serve those around her who were in need of medical attention. To find Betty in heaven’s meadows simply look for the beautiful zinnias, roses, peonies, and anemones as Betty was a capable gardener and a fervent lover of flowers. Betty will be missed by her two children, James Martin Slater and Kimberly Anne Kerekes (Bart), her granddaughter Jessica, her grandsons Matthew and Brandon, four great-grandchildren, and brothers Bob (Barb) Leasure and Michael (Linda) Leasure. The family is planning a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. Condolences may be sent in the form of remembrances to be shared with the family at www.heritagecremationsociety.com.
