Barberton vet office catches COVID19

Affordable Pet Care Clinic is closed until further notice due to staff contractions of COVID-19.

Affordable Pet Care (APC) Veterinary Clinic strives to provide quality, affordable care to pet owners in the Barberton and Greater Akron Area. Despite an increase in safety measures, including their March 18 decision to cancel all surgeries and operate on an appointment only basis, APC is now closing its doors entirely.

In a press release posted on the business social media page, Practice Manager Joe Elton explained, “even with the extra safety measures in place, members of our staff have contracted COVID-19…as a result we are forced to close for quarantine.”

Patients who need a copy of their records can email records@apcvets.com to get access and any medical questions regarding a pet already in the APC system can be sent to info@apcvets.com. Prescription diets and medications will remain available only through the clinic’s home delivery service, which can be found on their website. Animals dealing with an immediate medical emergency can be taken to MedVet and Metropolitan Animal Hospitals, which remain open 24/7.

The release further states, “this is the last thing that I wanted to have to do, but we have no choice, I refuse to risk exposing any more of my staff or the public.”

The temporary closing will be in effect until at least Wednesday, April 8 and Elton says APC plans to reopen “as soon the quarantine period is over and [APC] feel that it is safe to do so.”
