Suspect named in Manchester Road murder

The Akron Police Department and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office were both investigating the murder of a woman at a Manchester Road address.

Twyla Pettiford, 52, of Akron was found dead in a garage around 11:30 a.m. June 17 with multiple gunshot wounds. She was prounounced dead at the scene and an autopsy was scheduled for June 18.

During the investigation, police identified a suspect. A murder warrant was signed for Chester “Billy” Walker. He is a black male, 53 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 205 pounds.

Police say he was driving a silver, 2012 Chevy Impala.

Walker, according to police, should be considered armed and dangerous.

    So sad. There was a man walking in the middle of one of the lanes on Manchester Road this morning around Dunkin’. He was white, slender, with short hair, almost like a buzz cut. I didn’t get too good of a look at him since I had to swerve out of the way to not hit him. I believe he may have been drinking. I’m not sure if the two incidents are related, but wanted to share just in case.
