Cancer fears the runner this Saturday

Kathy Fogle has organized a “Cancer Fears the Runner” 5K and 1-mile fun run. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 and will benefit the Barberton area Relay for Life.

The race will be at Wolf Creek Trailhead (Towpath) at 33 Snyder Ave. in Barberton. Participants are to arrive at 8 a.m. for registration and the race will begin at 9 a.m. It is $30 to participate in the 5K and $20 for the fun run. You can register up until 7 a.m. Saturday morning but early registration is strongly recommended as there are only a limited number of runners allowed.
This event marks the team’s seventh annual race, but this time it’s different. Kathy stated, “My cousin was just diagnosed with breast cancer and she starts chemo today [Oct. 19]. This year it means even more to us.” Kathy also explained that she’s looking forward to a live race, rather than the virtual or drive-thru events that have taken place since the start of the pandemic.
To register for the race, visit or fill out the registration form found on the Cancer Fears the Runner Facebook page.
