Barberton’s boys basketball team defeated Coventry 89-53 to improve to 6-3.
Coventry scored the first point of the game on a free throw but they never led again after four straight Barberton baskets. The Magics led 16-7 after one quarter, 43-20 at halftime and 74-39 going into the fourth.
Senior forward Anthony Cook led the team with 30 points. He also had six steals, six assists and five rebounds while making four 3-pointers. Tony Fox (19 points, three 3-pointers), Jamair Blackmon (18 points, five assists) and Glen Parker (13 points, seven rebounds, three steals) also scored in doubles figures. Kaige Lowe (4 points), Goran Bundalo (3 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks) and Bennett Miller (2 points) also scored.
Next, the Magics host Aurora Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. for the first matchup between Suburban League American Conference rivals, while Coventry fell to 5-10 and returns home the same night against Metro Athletic Conference rival Woodridge at 7 p.m.
