Teens shot in car in Kenmore

Two teens were shot sitting in a car in Kenmore just before 2 p.m. April 4.

Officers responded to a shots fired call at Florida Avenue and 12 Street Southwest. The victims, an 18-year-old man, and a 17-year-old girl, were targeted by two suspects, who fired multiple shots, striking the victims as they sat in a vehicle. At least one of the victims returned fire as they attempted to flee the area.

The victims were located inside the vehicle a few blocks away, on Battles Ave. and 24th Street. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

During the investigation, officers found several shell casings at the scene. A nearby home and vehicle, occupied by two women in their 20s, was also struck by gunfire. There were no other injuries reported. Detectives are working to identify the suspects and locate the vehicle involved in the shooting.
