Among the hardest hit industries in the pandemic has been the performing arts and Barberton’s own resident theater company was not immune.
To try and recover, the troupe launched a creative fundraiser April 15.
Magical Theatre Company’s online auction went live at noon that day and runs one week, to 11 p.m. April 22. This event was created to raise funds so the theater can re-open later in 2021, following prolonged financial losses as a result of the pandemic.
“This is the first step towards helping the theatre reopen,” Co-Producing Director Holly Barkdoll said. “The pandemic has cut a wide swath into Magical Theatre’s programming for more than a year and this will help us start the process of preparing to perform in-person again. We miss everybody so much!”
The online auction features a slew of unique experiences, including an elegant five-course dinner created by chef Dan Remark in a beautiful garden oasis; a fairytale picnic on the grounds of a castle; the privilege of being the first to be told of Magical Theatre’s reopening show, accompanied by a private tour of the theater and the first to choose their seats for this production; celebration of a loved one by being featured on the Magical Theatre marquee, and more.
Other items include gorgeous hand-crafted jewelry by Magical Theatre’s own Amanda Kidd; desserts for a year from Leach’s; a Coach purse; tickets and parking to an Indians game; and dozens more great items.
