Barberton Fire Department-provided detectors not thought to be in recall

According the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission there is a nationwide recall for Kidde TruSense Smoke Alarms and combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms that were sold at Walmart, Home Depot, Menards, Amazon and other stores between May 2019 and September 2020. Only alarms with the TruSense logo or “AMBER=FAULT” printed on the front of the alarm are included in this recall. Please follow the link for more specific information regarding model numbers affected by this recall.

Currently, it does not appear the smoke detectors the Barberton Fire Department has been providing and installing for our residents are the affected models, the department said in a May 7 release.

“However, we strongly recommend everyone to look at their smoke detector for the TruSense logo or ‘AMBER=FAULT’ printed on the front of the alarm and to immediately contact Kidde for a free replacement alarm,” the release said. “Consumers should keep using the recalled alarms until they install replacement alarms.”
