A 30-year-old Akron man was jailed June 22 for a violent attack that sent the victim to the hospital.
Timothy L. Williams, a convicted violent felon and registered sex offender, was put in the Barberton City Jail after a short search of the downtown area. Williams is charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery and attempted rape.
Police got a 911 call a little before 1 p.m. from Caine’s Flowers on Second Street Northwest and were on scene in less than a minute. As officers went in the front, Williams went out the back. Police found the victim on the floor and summoned EMS and other officers in the area. Police did not release any other information on the victim.
A description of the suspect was broadcast and uniformed officers and detectives scoured the downtown area. A witness saw a man who matched the description go into a Wooster Road North business and police found him inside and arrested him.
Police stress this is an ongoing investigation and this is all the information they are prepared to release right now. The Herald will update this story as more information becomes available.
