Magics dominate Black Tigers

Barberton’s football team improved to 8-1 (6-0 Suburban League American Conference) with an easy 47-6 win at Cuyahoga Falls.

On the Black Tigers’ first drive Kenny Larry intercepted a pass. It took eight plays for the Magics to score, as Chris Smith ran it in from 11 yards out. Kaige Lowe made it 14-0 later in the quarter on a 7-yard rushing score.

Cuyahoga Falls threw its second interception of the game on the next drive, as nose tackle Drew Terry snuffed out a screen pass and returned it to the 15-yard line. Chanden Lee threw a pass to the end zone on the next play to Hayden Macko to make it 21-0.

The Magics scored three more times before the half, first with a blocked punt that was recovered by Rylan Angeloff in the end zone. Next, Cam Macon rushed for a 6-yard score after Roosevelt Andrews forced and recovered a fumble. Lowe then scored for the second time on a 70-yard interception return.

Each team scored in the second half as the Magics put in their reserves. The Barberton score came on a 47-yard screen pass from Dominic Wilson to Larry.

Lee completed 6-of-10 passes for 78 yards while Macon rushed four times for 42 yards and Smith totaled 33 yards on three carries, while Macko caught three passes for 41 yards.

Next, the Magics finish the regular season at Tallmadge Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
