With everyone who can be vaccinated having had an opportunity to get at least one dose, Barberton schools Superintendent Jeffrey Ramnytz has lifted the mask mandate.
Effective Nov. 29, when kids return from Thanksgiving break, masks will be strongly encouraged but optional. However, due to federal Department of Transportation requirements, they are still needed at all times on buses.
“The Board of Education and district leadership have been watching the district COVID-19 data closely,” Ramnytz said in a district all-call message Nov. 23.
Ramnytz said the district would follow the state’s “test to play” guidelines, which he said are on both the district’s Facebook and web pages.
“As always, if your child is sick, keep them home and we will keep a close eye on the situation,” Ramnytz said. “And if we need to, we will reinstate the mask policy to keep all our students and staff safe.”
