Barbertonian celebrates a special birthday

A special 50th birthday celebration took place for Barberton resident Angie Warrington, with special guests.
Fox 8 weatherman Andre Bernier was at the Dec. 4 fete, where Judge Todd McKenney acted as master of ceremonies. The judge’s wife, Summit County Councilwoman Bethany McKenney and many family and friends were there, too.
Angie was born with a birth defect, spina bifida. Her disability has not stopped her from devoting her life to helping children with spina bifida and other special needs. She hosted fundraisers for Toys for Tots with NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett and also held a fundraiser with Joe Gibbs Racing to help kids that were victims of Hurricane Katrina.
She was the poster child for the local Grotto and for the Grottos of North America. In addition, as a regular guest of Fox 8 news for over 30 years, she helped with their Kids Christmas Project.
She continues to give to local drug recovery programs and to Barberton Area Community Ministries. Ohio Secretery of State Frank LaRose prepared a proclamation for the occasion to honor her life and the ways she has been an inspiration to the community she has served.
