Norton schools drug-free

Norton’s high and middle schools were deemed drug-free today after a surprise K-9 sweep.
It took less than 40 minutes for K-9 units from six departments to sweep the schools and parking lots. Police say the checks found no drugs in the schools or on school property.
Joining Norton in the operation were the Copley, Stow, Hiram and Ravenna police departments.
The school district took advantage of the sweep to practice a soft lockdown.
“The district was made aware of this event as the officers pulled into the buildings, so it was a great opportunity to test our procedures on an unannounced event,” Superintendent Dana Addis said.
