Verble Lee “String” Stringfield, age 79 of Wadsworth, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 10. She was born in Stinson, West Virgina. July 5, 1942. Verble retired from Barberton Citizens Hospital, and was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Barberton. She was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State fan. Preceded in death by her sons, David Lee Stringfield and Daniel L. Stringfield; husband, Jerry Lee Stringfield; and mother, Irene Matheney, Verble is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Randy Cromer of Wadsworth Twp., and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Barnes of Wadsworth; daughter-in-law, Mimi Stringfield of Kingston, Ohio; grandchildren, Tiffany, Katie, Amanda, Drew, Erin, Megan and Jeremy; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Bev) Matheney; sisters, Sandra Nunnelley and Violet Parsons; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Roberta Cox. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 at the Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, with Capt. Ashley Ferrell of the Barberton Salvation Army officiating. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service Tuesday, from 4 to 6 p.m. Facial coverings are required. Graveside service and inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Friday, Jan. 21 at 11:15 a.m. Those attending are asked to gather by 11 a.m. at the cemetery’s welcome center.
