Leonard D. Powell, 76, of Barberton, peacefully passed away May 14. Leonard was born Feb. 20 1946 to the late, Leonard A. Powell and Margaret Powell (Potter) in Barberton. After Leonard graduated from Barberton High school, he enlisted in the Marines. He then went on to study Computer Programming at Coleman College. He worked in the Computer science field until he retired in 2004. After retirement Leonard and his wife received their CDL license and enjoyed traveling the country together. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, boating, camping, fishing and woodworking projects. Leonard is preceded in death by sisters, Marlene Odem and Marcia Ann Powell and twin baby brothers and sister. Leonard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cynthia Powell; brother, Gary Powell; sons, Daniel J. Powell and Timothy D. Powell (Sarah T. Powell); grandchildren, Hailey E. Powell, Nathaniel J. Powell, Dylan J. Powell, Zoe G. Powell, and Derek J Powell. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 20 at 9 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth Street, N.W., Barberton. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ASPCA, an organization Leonard felt strongly about.
