VFW presents check to Lissy’s Legacy

Barberton VFW 1066 Post Commander Ernie Penko (right) presents a check for $1,000 to Lissy’s Legacy of Love, a nonprofit organization that helps children affected by drug addiction. Accepting the donation is Board Member Debbie Wasch. Also pictured is post officer Dennis Antal and Lissy’s volunteer Jerry Christian. 

Lissy’s was started to keep alive the memory of Elissa “Lissy” Gardner who overdosed and died April 26, 2020. Her dream was to finish college and become a substance abuse counselor and help others who struggle with addiction. Lissy’s Legacy of Love has events all year, such as Christmas presents, Birthday presents and Easter baskets just to name a few. Lissy’s Second Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser will be June 18, at Spring Hills Golf Club. For further information go to www.lissyslegacyoflove.org.
