Joanne L. Caperones

Joanne L. Caperones, 77, passed away July 24, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by her family and her beloved poodle, “Minnie” at her daughter’s home in Hudson. She was born in Barberton April 27, 1945 and was a graduate of Barberton High School, Class of 1963.  Joanne also graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and was employed as an RN at Barberton Citizens Hospital Emergency Room for many years.  She was a devout Catholic and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mayme Caperones. She is survived by her daughter, Krista Shaffer; beloved “Yia Yia” to Noah and Lilly; brother, Peter (Susan) Caperones; twin sister, Pat Caperones; cousin, Linda Garey; along with other cousins, relatives and friends.     My mother was Ruth Lyle and worked for many years at BCH ER with Joanne. I heard her name mentioned so many times about the incredible experiences they shared in the ER and were good friends. I finally met Joanne at my mother’s funeral and what a wonderful person she was to meet as she graciously shared memories. What these nurses went through in an Emergency Room has my complete respect.
