Darlene O’Brien

What we have lost Heaven has gained, when our Lord called our dear Darlene home July 27. Darlene had many titles in life, Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt …. she took each of those titles seriously.  Everyone felt love from Darlene, and she will be missed by all. Darlene was born, raised, and resided in Barberton. She attended St. Vincent – St. Mary High School and graduated in 1978. Darlene also worked at Big Lots in Barberton for 27 years, until she retired. Darlene loved “chinging” with her mom, dining out, camping, and crafting, especially after retirement. She loved spending time with family and adored her son and his family. Darlene had a huge heart, her home was always welcoming, and she was always ready to greet you with a smile, hug and an “I love you.” Darlene is proceeded in death by her Grandparents, George and Mary (Vislavsky) Dujanovic, Oscar and Nellie (Henson) Young; Father, George Dujanovic; Husband, Dave O’Brien, and Niece Susan Britton. She is survived by her son, Eric Elfrink (Adrian); Grandchildren, Elizabeth (Lizzy), Cameron (Cammie) and Luke; Mother, Bonnie (Young) Provchy; Stepmother, Barbera Dujanovic; Brothers, George Dujanovic (Sherri) and Kenny Dujanovic (Tina); Sister, Denise Pennino (Brian); Stepsisters, Michelle White (Alan), Valerie Bibey (Clinton), Shari Barghoudi (Hazem); numerous nephews, nieces and many other family members who were dear to her.  There will be no showing or graveside service as cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life gathering will take place later.

Darlene was my Furniture manager while I was at the Barberton Biglots. She did a great job and always went the extra mile to take care of her customers. She loved her grandchildren and talked about them daily. We would kid each other about our Hungarian roots and I really enjoyed working with her. She was a great lady.

Darlene was a coworker…turned into a best friend through work…was with me during one of the worst days of my life when I had to put my baby girl (my furby Maddie) of nearly 18 years down. She ALWAYS had a smile and a laugh that was unique. Even during her chemo treatments she would go to Wadsworth and pick my bf/fiance up after his dialysis treatments. I loves her so much and miss her dearly..

Darlene was one of my daughter’s girl scout leaders. She was always happy and smiling. I’m sorry for your loss

I’m so sorry to hear the news. Had a lot of fun as her and I were Girl Scout leaders. We were a great team. Prayers for the family.
