Walter “Walt” Ridgley McWilliams

Walter “Walt” Ridgley McWilliams, loving father of six died Sept. 5, at the age of 64. He was born to the late Charles and Rita McWilliams. Walt was a successful business man and met Terry, his former spouse, to whom he was married for many years. He was a gifted musician, singer, and song writer known for playing many instruments. He wrote and recorded the song “Kennesaw” and loved performing the Peanuts theme song “Linus and Lucy” for his family and friends. Walter was also an avid Beatles fan and loved dancing to an Irish jig. He was proud of his Irish heritage and attended the Dublin, Ohio Irish Festival with his family annually. Walter loved watching his favorite TV show, The Big Bang Theory with his sister, Christine, playing Board Games with his family and sneaking in “puns” whenever possible. Walter was a worship leader at St. Luke’s and The Father’s House and affected the lives of many individuals in his church community. Walt is survived by his children Michael, Jennifer, Jonathan, Brian, Emily and Tim; siblings, Rita, Stephen, Christine, Betty and Patrick; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held for Walt Saturday, Sept, 17, at 3 p.m. at the Campfield Hickman Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Pastor Shawn Holderfield officiating.  The family will receive friends and family from 2 p.m. until time of his service. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to The Father’s House or the American Diabetes Association.
