Bernard A. Skerl

Bernard A. Skerl, 92, passed away Dec. 5. He was born in Barberton and had been a Doylestown resident most of his life. Bernard retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber Co/Accride Corporation after 34 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, KSKJ Lodge 110 and played baseball for Barberton High School, Kent State. University and the Baltimore Orioles Organization. He also served in the National Guard for eight years. Preceded in death by his sons Bernard Jr. and Daniel; daughter Christine Wright; parents Anthony and Antoinette; brother Richard; and brother-in-law’s Mike Krunich and Donald Cerosky; He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy A.; daughter-in-law Kim (Larry) Martell; grandchildren Alec Skerl and Rachel Reynolds; great-granddaughter Isabella Reynolds; sister Mary Krunich; sister-in-law Dawn Bowman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown. Burial at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.     Bernard Jr. (“Bernie”) was a childhood friend. They lived on 24th St. NW, a few lots down the hill from the fire station.
