James “Jim” Edward Cosgrove

James “Jim” Edward Cosgrove passed away Dec. 14, at the age of 92. Jim was born in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania Feb. 17, 1930, to the late Josephine and Joseph Cosgrove. He was the third eldest of seven children. After schooling, he moved to Barberton, and met his future wife, Martha (Thomas), while working at B & W. Jim joined the Army in 1951 where he married Martha. He served with the 45th infantry division, was stationed in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1953. Jim loved to travel in his motorhome and over the years he and Martha crisscrossed the U.S. many times with their son and daughter. Jim had always enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and other outdoor recreation. After his retirement, Martha and Jim continued traveling and enjoying life to the fullest, making many friends throughout North America.  Jim’s sense of humor will be deeply missed. His classic “grandpa jokes” and one-liners will continue to be remembered and repeated by his family members for years to come. Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Martha; siblings John, Helen, Joseph, Mary, Thomas, and Robert. Jim is survived by his children James (Lori) Cosgrove and Christine (Rob) Hysell; grandchildren, JC (Brook) Cosgrove, Krista (John) Freday, Chris (Sierra) Baker, and AJ (Amber) Baker; great-grandchildren, Cash, Cora, and Ariannah; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Both Jim and Martha’s inurnment service with military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawgia Road Seville, Ohio Wenesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at 2:15 p.m.  Please meet at the cemetery entrance at 2 p.m. “Say goodbye, Jim.
