Kindergarten – 4th-grade children can create amazing builds at the library while playing Minecraft on the library’s private server. Different building challenges will be offered each month along with free play with friends! The Minecraft Building Club will be moving to the Spillette Room in the basement of the library in July and August. Grades K-3 meet from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Grades 4-8 meet from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Join us at the library to improve your flexibility by participating in a free chair yoga class. This gentle program is designed for seniors and individuals struggling with mobility. The class will be led by Colleen Hohl, a 200 hour certified yoga instructor from the Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina.

The Norton Music Boosters invite everyone to the annual Night at the Races Friday, Feb. 21, at the Barberton Moose Annex. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and races will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 which include entrance to the event, dinner, pop and beer. Horses are $10 each. Race sponsors are needed. Portage Lakes Branch Library presents Becoming a Volunteer Guardian: How you can make a difference in our community, Saturday, Feb. 22, 10:30 a.m. Enjoy donuts, coffee and conversation with Julie Falter as she explains what a Volunteer Adult Guardian does, their responsibilities, the requirements and how much time is needed. All ages welcome. The program is administered by Summit County Public Health. Julie Falter, ESq.,Ma/Ed. is a volunteer recruiter. No registration is required. Paws to Read

Children are invited to practice their reading skills with trained therapy dogs on the fourth Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. – noon. Reading aloud to a therapy dog, in a friendly, non-critical environment can help reduce stress and anxiety, and build a child’s confidence, as well as improve fluency, focus and help promote the joy of reading. No reservations necessary!

Party Tuesday, Feb. 25 at St. Augustine School, 5-8:30 p.m., dinner served at 6 p.m. Tickets will be available for sale after each mass or at the Rectory during normal business hours, Feb. 1-22.  The cost is $10 and includes the famous baked potato bar, a sandwich, tossed salad, drink and dessert. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. Reservations for tables of six or more persons will be available. Tickets are pre-sale only and will not be sold at the door.  Join them for a fun evening of cards, games, door prizes, numerous raffle baskets and gift cards. Support Baker

On Nov. 15, 2019, Scott Baker was diagnosed with stage four cancer of the gallbladder and liver. There is a tumor that has grown between these two organs. Scott owns Baker Automotive & Performance in Barberton. The business was founded in 1985. This business is very well noted in the racing community, not only in Ohio but Michigan and Indiana. There will be an event with dinner and raffles to help Baker with medical bills Saturday, Feb. 29, 4-9 p.m. at the Barberton Band Boosters Inc., 795 W Hopocan Ave. Price for dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 5-12 years and 4-and-under are free. The Heartbeats Jump Rope Team will be performing Saturday, Feb. 29, 7-8 p.m., in the gym at Copley High School, 3807 Ridgewood Road, Copley 44321. Team members will be displaying competition as well as performance routines. This highly anticipated event will include audience participation.
